Construction & Materials

• Lead / Graphite Core

  • Uses a special lead formulation that produces smooth, consistent strokes with a slight metallic lustre in the grey tones.

  • The lead is super-bonded (or strongly bonded) to resist breakage even under pressure or during sharpening.

  • Different hardness grades have different lead diameters: for example, 12B is thicker (~4.5 mm), mid soft grades ~3.6 mm, and firmer grades ~2.0 mm

• Wood / Casing

  • Made from cedar wood sourced from PEFC-certified, sustainably managed forests.

  • Exterior finish is polished, usually in a dark blue body with black end caps (for standard “blue series”) or matte black versions for high carbon “black series” types.

  • The shape is hexagonal, aiding grip and preventing rolling.

• Tin Box

  • The tin box is durable, ideal for protecting the pencils from damage, keeping them organized, and making them portable.

  • It typically has slots or compartments for each pencil grade, to hold them securely in place. (common in artist tin sets)
